How To Plan A Celebration of Life - Start HERE!

When you know you want a beautiful and fitting tribute but have no idea where to begin how to  start or how even to plan one of these events this video is for you we're going to go through the five  building blocks and the five foundation pieces that every memorial has in order to help you get  started and feel confident beginning your planning journey my name is Christina from new narrative an  event planning company that mixes event planning with technology solutions to help families stay  connected and gather to commemorate lives without lots of the stress so before we get into the video  a reminder to please subscribe to our channel and like and do all that good stuff when it comes  to YouTube leave a comment below you can download our family planning guide and I'd love to hear  your feedback on this video so let's get to it the first component is the feel and tone of the event  so before you start any detail planning you'll want.

To think about the feel and the tone of your  event and it's okay if you just have some vague ideas think about how you want your guests to feel  when they log out or when they leave your venue in order to get started on thinking about the  feel and tone of the event i highly recommend that you journal and it can just be a piece of paper  write what you like write what you don't like you'll want to bring those in and consider those  as you make the decisions coming up the second big component big building block is your location and  this one is a very interesting one since services and ceremonies have looked a lot different since  the beginning of the copen 19 pandemic in 2020 so when you think about your memorial event i want  you to consider where you'll be convening and take some time if you are convening in person take some  time to select a venue that reflects your needs and wants as a family so this can be a variety.

Of needs and wants you'll want to go back to this location over and over for the coming years it can  be a location that you never want to go back to it can be a location that's close to your home it can  be a location that holds a lot of meaning to your family so for instance if it's a park close by to  where your mother lived or if it's a hotel ballroom that your grandparents would always  rent out for family reunions or if it was a special location where you want to intentionally  travel there to honor and celebrate the life of your loved one you can also host these events  totally virtually which means that anybody can log in through a zoom meeting and just  be there and be all together and you can see each other through a computer screen now this makes it  easier for guests to attend and it is a bit more accessible and there's pros and cons to holding an  event virtually or in person but the nice thing about virtual is that you can actually have your.

Family can have your families can have little watch parties so if you are connecting families  say from connecticut and vancouver bc and florida and the united kingdom every little location can  be a separate small gathering and you can all be together um in more of a hybrid style so you can  see and hear each other on the screen and with a technical director director in the background they  can help you with all of the technical details and to make sure that everyone is coming through  correctly everyone is muted and all of your guests simultaneously are hearing the slideshow.

Songs seeing the pictures and these individual tributes the third aspect to consider and the  third building block is your speakers so consider who who the important people in your life  are who would you like to ask to speak and say a few words that represent the life and legacy  of the person that we're honoring one thing i loved about a recent memorial that i worked on  is that the family was very intentional in picking different people to represent different facets of  our honoree's life so we were able to hear about her as an activist her as a grandmother her as a  friend her as a colleague her as a mother her as just a choir member and it was so beautiful.

Because everybody's the goal of the family was for you as an attendee to come and learn something  new about this person about our honorees something you didn't know before and with different speakers  representing different facets of somebody's life then you really have that full sick 360 degree recollection of who they were and their life and their legacy and it can be a beautiful  time for remembrance and sharing stories and memories and who knows more might come up in  the chat and more might come out during the open share we're going to cover this  in a different video but there are absolutely more ways to incorporate speakers than just  live on screen or live in person so for example having them pre-recorded is a beautiful option.

Because with pre-recorded you can film anywhere anytime on your own terms you can edit you can  infuse pictures special songs and you can really create your own custom tribute to this person to  be shown on screen at the time of your speech it can be a beautiful a beautiful remembrance number four so the next one on the list after speakers is thinking about your attendees and  your invitations so this may change depending on if you're hosting a virtual event or an  in-person event and the reason i say that is because the number of people may may differ  and if you're hosting an in-person event obviously there are some limitations on the amount of people  that you can have in a specific venue cove it aside some venues only have room for say 50 or  400 or for 200 and if you have a bigger group then having a virtual component is definitely  something to consider now for virtual events again we use zoom so we are only limited by the.

Thousand-person capacity of zoom so you can send these invitations far and wide and another beautiful thing about hosting a hybrid event is that you can have people attending in.

Person but also streaming in virtually and that essentially is unlimited especially if  you stream to Facebook you can possibly have a ton of people there with you in the moment  and experiencing this commemoration all together i actually recommend that you create a mind map  so put your honoree's name in the center and draw a little circle around it and then from there i  encourage you to start branching out so start with associations groups family members just important  groups and community sectors that are very important to your family and from there once you  have a specific group you can actually do little tiny branches and start to name specific people.

So for instance if we're honoring ted in the middle and ted was part of a car club and had  three or four acquaintances say bill was one of his closest friends at the car club and tom was  helping to run their virtual meetings maybe those two people you'll want to ask to be speakers at  the event because they represent one part of ted's life in on that vein if say ted was a principal  then you may ask a couple of important teachers or administrative staff or if ted was a grandfather  you may ask one of the grandchildren or do a little video montage of all of the  grandchildren speaking again tons of possibilities we'll go through this in a different video.

Finally one of the biggest elements and one of the most personal is music  now music definitely sets the tone for your event and this sets the tone at the beginning  continues that tone in the middle and of course ends the event on a beautiful note no pun intended  when thinking of options i want you to consider songs that meant a lot to your honoree or to your  community so were there any special artists or genres or albums that your loved one was fond of  do you want to begin the event on a more low key note do you want to infuse some pop hits in there.

Do you want to end with some higher tempo music so that guests leave with a celebratory feeling  we recommend selecting the two most important songs that you have or the ones that you deem  most important and using these as event bookends well most of your attendees will be there right  at the beginning and right at the end um there's a little bit you know the pre-event music they  won't hear at all but the most people that you'll have there will hear that last song  and that first song at the very end so those are the five foundational elements i hope you found  this helpful if you did please write in the comments below let me know what you thought  subscribe like please do share this with a friend or a family member if you think that  they might find it helpful and we are only an email away if you have any questions the link  is in the bio download our family planning guide too and check out our other videos here or uh here.

And this is Christina from new narrative we'll see you in the next video.

I replaced my $13K Home Theatre with a SOUNDBAR

This right here is one of my favorite movie moments. The rumbling, guttural roar of the Balrog! It's incredible! Wait, on a soundbar? Oh, movie magic exposed.

Nakamichi's sales pitch here is absolutely wild. I mean, one does not simply position a soundbar against a multi- channel audio system that costs tens of thousands of dollars. And yet, they did. So, okay, Nakamichi, if that is your real name, I'll bite. I'm gonna rip my SVS home theater apart, I'm gonna replace it with your soundbar, and I'm gonna see if maybe I could have saved myself thousands of dollars and a heck of a lot of hassle.

I'm also gonna see if I can tell you about our sponsor, Ugreen. Their 145 watt power bank is equipped with power delivery and quick charge 3.0 fast charging, along with 65 watt input and a massive 25,000 mAh battery to fulfill your on-the-go needs. Check it out at the link in the video description. I like tinkering, so I went the discreet route for my home theater.

I got some SVS ultra towers and surrounds, in-ceilings courtesy of Klipsch, and a pair of SVS subs, all wired through my walls to a Denon AV receiver. These components together cost an eye-watering 13,600 US dollars, not including the price of install, which probably sounds completely bonkers to the average consumer who's buying a $200 Bose soundbar like that one that we covered last year, but if you've spent any time on the home theater subreddit, you'll know that somehow we're still in bang for the buck territory, which is what makes Nakamichi's claims so unbelievable. I mean, who do they think they are? No, really though. Old school audio nerds are going to remember Nakamichi's history making high-end cassette and CD players with the dragon name indicating their top-of-the-line products, but.

.. That company failed to transition from analog to digital, and in 1998, they were purchased by a Chinese holding company, Grand Holdings.

Four years later, they filed for bankruptcy. In the 2000s, their shambling corpse was reanimated to sell iPod docks and portable DVD players with only modest success, and more recently, the company has returned to the high-end audio scene to focus on.

.. Soundbars. Let's see if they should have stayed buried. The first thing you're gonna notice about the Dragon when you get it is that it is huge and really heavy.

To get a sense of the scale, here's that best-selling Bose soundbar off of Amazon, and here is the Sonos Arc. It completely dwarfs them both. Now obviously these comparisons aren't entirely fair because the Dragon justifies its massive size by packing in a whopping 17 distinct drivers.

Including four that reflect off the ceiling to give you a sense of height and these nifty air motion transformer tweeters that work like an accordion Squeezing in and out to produce mid to high-end frequencies with extra clarity Supposedly, but I think we've gotten ahead of ourselves a little bit. Let's look at the rest of the package Quad subwoofers you say I mean there are dual 8-inch drivers in each of these two subwoofers But my speakers have multiple drivers in them I don't call them Three speakers this won't be the last time we see Nakamichi stretching the truth We'll come back to that But first there's the surround speakers which each feature four board drivers on the sides and an angled upward firing driver that can be Rotated towards your listening position to improve overhead audio effects these bring the total number of drivers to a whopping 31 with a circuit blowing peak power of 3000 watts thankfully you'll never actually need that much power at once because at even 50% of maximum volume we are well into Uncomfortably loud territory which means we should be able to get theater-like performance out of this package then right?

Well, what are we waiting for? Let's give it a shot Good clarity The mids feel a little empty to me.

It's a pretty big sound from a sound bar though Yeah, and I think having the nice big surrounds is great Sometimes you'll get systems where you have these small surrounds and they sound piddly whenever you have surrounding But these are big enough that you still get a similar sound all the way around you. Yeah, it's a good volume of sound Surround is okay. Yeah.

It's not as good as the HTA9's. It's not as good as a dedicated 5.1. That's beside me, that ain't behind me. The subs sound pretty good.

I will say that the subs are great. I think that the bass is punchy and it's quite musical, but the issue is that it just doesn't get that low. Let's pull up "Baby Driver" and you'll see exactly what we're talking about.

Like, did you hear that just now on the bass line, that walking downwards? It gets a little boomy at the top because it's trying to compensate for the dip where the crossover lies.

Every criticism I have of it though has to be tempered by the fact that realistically in my mind what I'm comparing it to is a system that costs several times as much. If I was comparing to something else... I wouldn't be sitting here going, "Mumm, yes, but the dip, it quite.
" For me, I remember when I was testing this earlier, I had listened to Your Home Theater first, and then I listened to The Dragon, and then I went, "Oh." But then I came back three days later after the weekend, listened to The Dragon first, and I was like, "This is awesome!" Switching over to my quote-unquote spoiled speakers.

You just hear this like when when there is that bass punch just like like you actually feel it Yeah, which you don't get from the Nakamichi, which is really disappointing considering. They are big subwoofer still I mean at half the volume of the ones that are here though, and you know what?

Yeah, it sounds more Natural it's a better balanced experience But at what cost? yeah, and I was gonna say in terms of the treble performance The Nakamichi is kind of awesome. Yeah, I don't really miss it like listening to just the music I was like it still sounds really really good coming back to the bass though part of the reason that it doesn't punch the way That the SVS subs do is that while Nakamichi? advertises performance down to 20 Hertz what we found was Actually closer to what 30 to 45 before it just rolls off completely yeah It's um it's really disappointing and I think it's fine to have bass that only goes that low but Be honest. Be honest about it.

If you guys want to experience these two systems side-by-side by the way We're gonna have a binaural recording that we created in collaboration with Blaine from Headphones.com And we're gonna have those in unlisted links in the video description.

It's Pretty darn good in terms of spatial performance, but I've definitely encountered better We've spent a lot of time comparing the Nakamichi Dragon to a full- fledged system. I mean they invite that comparison but let's try doing something that's a competitor of the same form factor like the Sonos Arc. Yeah, I like the Arc so I'll be interested to see how it holds up.

I just want to take this moment to acknowledge how good the I/O is. On the Nakamichi, the Sonos Arc gives you one HDMI, so you better have eARC. Nakamichi doesn't have any Wi-Fi, but it does have a bajillion inputs and outputs and it does still support Bluetooth. And what's nice is that having no microphone, while it does mean that the calibration is more manual and tedious, means that there's no support for voice assistants, which some people might see as a downer, but some people might actually consider to be a plus. Now let's listen to what the Arc can do.

Sonos is unironically a good little sound bar. It's a good little sound bar. The Nakamichi Dragon does sound better. It's worth noting I don't have a pair of Sonos speakers to throw in the back, but even the sound signature is smaller. I will say that the Sonos Sub is admirable.

It's surprisingly good for its size. Yeah, they knocked it out of the park with that. And something we've got to consider in all of this is any sound bar is only going to be as good as the limited options that you have available to expand it. Sure you can add surrounds to your Sonos as long as you're willing to overpay for them and find a way to mount them on your own. Speaking of flexibility, where are you gonna put the Nakamichi Dragon stuff?

It doesn't come with mounting hardware.

These stands that we got, while nice, are 300 bucks. That's kind of a bummer. So, like any solution, then, it has its advantages and disadvantages, but I think it boils down to this. The Dragon provides, I'd say about 80% of the experience that my AV setup provides, at a quarter of the price.

That is a massive value. But, and you probably know this if you've ever bought something like a graphics card, the issue is that it's easy to look good when you compare against something much more expensive, because the farther up the product stack you go, the worse value you tend to get. So, if we were to compare the Dragon then against something that costs a little less than half the price, like a Samsung Q990C that has many of the same features, but is more modest in size and has just a single subwoofer, well, you could make a pretty similar argument there, that you're getting a lot of the performance of the Nakamichi.

And, regardless of your budget, there are strong arguments to be made still for going the DIY route. Personally, and I'm sure I'm gonna ruffle some feathers here, I don't find that the height channels really add that much for me.

So, for two grand or even four grand, I might go with a mean 5.1 surround setup and an AV receiver that is gonna give me better quality sound right out of the gate and that I can sell and buy and upgrade over time to turn it into something truly exceptional.

Like this segue to our sponsor, Origin PC. Summer is in full swing and it's getting darn hot. So, why not stay inside and take advantage of Origin PC's July promotion.

They have great discounts going on, like $250 off all custom PCs or 5% off all ready-to-ship desktops. And, if you have to leave your house, hey, they're taking 20% off of laptops as well. The best part? You can get a free Envision black wired controller with select purchases, a free 2-year warranty upgrade, and free US ground shipping. So stop touching grass and stay indoors with the help of Origin PC.

Check out their July promotion at the link in the video description. If you guys enjoyed this video, hey, I did too. I love checking out stuff like this. Bold bombastic claims are so much fun to investigate, whether they fall well short or fall even just a little bit short like today.

If you guys enjoyed this video, maybe go check out the ones about my home theater setup.

We've apparently got a playlist of them.

Affiliate Marketing For Beginners | How To Get Repeat Customers

- In today's video we're going to teach you how to make more money from the same number of people by getting them to make more purchases. Hey, this is LeahRae from toddandleahrae.com, social media marketing expert and online entrepreneur and today I'm going to teach you how to make more money with essentially the same amount of work, so stick around.  As we dive into how to create repeat customers, just want to tell you that we are all about creating videos and resources to help you build your online business, grow you brand, build your audience, generate leads, and make sales.

So, as you are watching this right now, click Subscribe and then hit the little bell button for notifications so we can help you reach your goals.

Now let's say you're getting the idea of affiliate marketing. You are creating content, maybe here on YouTube even, that leads people to a specific product or service that they are interested in purchasing.

So for example, you do a video comparing two different types of video editing software, demoing them and talking through the pros and cons of each of them and giving them your affiliate link to purchase whichever is the best fit for them. When people purchase, you make a commission, which is great. But here's the problem.

When you send people directly to the site to purchase, if they don't pull the trigger right away to purchase, you very well may never see any commissions come from that person.

Now compare that to someone who offers them something of value for free that people can get when they watch that very same video. Say a PDF with their top 10 video editing tips. They give the link in the video description and tell people to click it for access. When people click on it, they are taken to what is often referred to as a capture page.

It's simply a web page that makes them put in at least their name and email. When they hit submit that they receive whatever free giveaway you are providing to them, whether that's a PDF download, video, whatever. Now that you have their email address, guess what? You can continue to reach out to them through email. You can provide them with more free value, nurturing that relationship, building that know, like, and trust factor.

AND you can mix in additional offers or recommendations that they may be interested in. Building your email list gives you the power to market to people over and over again.

People often need several interactions with someone before they are ready to make a purchase. By building an email list and writing to them regularly, you are providing those additional interactions, that they may need, giving them the confidence to make the purchase. Plus, you are now starting to create repeat customers.

People who really resonate with you. Your style. Your content. The way you communicate. And they are receiving a lot of value from you.

They will not only make one purchase, but purchase after purchase. It's funny, but once you've been doing this for a while, you'll see that there are people who've been on your list for years that have finally made their first purchase after receiving your emails for ages. Maybe initially, the timing wasn't right for them to make a purchase, or maybe you finally built up enough trust with them that they are ready to buy.

But truly, the power of building an email list that hears from you regularly, is not just in nurturing people who have seen your content, but in creating repeat customers, and then raving fans. It takes way more effort to get someone to make their first purchase with you than it does to get them to make their second, third, fourth or so on.

When you make great recommendations that truly serve and help your audience, when you continue to give them value through your content, a subset of your repeat customers will become raving fans. Raving fans are those who buy everything you recommend. They absolutely love you, tell other people about you, and they make purchase after purchase. As you can imagine, those raving fans are incredibly valuable to your business. Imagine finding a new tool that you love and become an affiliate of.

Without an email list, you would create some new content that leads into your recommendation for it, and work to drive some traffic to that content, hoping that some people will see it and make a purchase. Now compare that same scenario to someone who has been building an email list.

They simply write one email to the list of thousands of people who've already consumed some of their content, maybe made purchases from them and the sales just start flowing in. Todd and I recently made over $20,000 in about a three-day time period by simply putting a new offer in front of our existing list. Many of those sales came from repeat customers.

We've used our email list to win affiliate contests even sailing trips to Greece. It works really well. Plus, you should be telling your list whenever you come up with new content. It serves them. Builds more of the know, like, and trust factor with you and it gets more views on your content, telling whatever platform you are using, say like YouTube that it's valuable content and that they should show it to more people.

Getting you more views and expanding your audience. As you can see there's a ton of power in creating your list. Plus, it's something that you actually own.

Say you are using Instagram or YouTube to create content and make referrals for affiliate products. Well, sorry, but you don't own those platforms.

If that platform decides they don't like what you are doing for whatever reasons, or they change their policies and now what you're doing is no longer okay, they can shut you down overnight without warning, and without recourse. If that happens to you, and I know people personally that have had this happen to them, if you don't have an email list, you are in really big trouble. Especially if you support your family solely through your business.

That income will dry up virtually overnight and you will have to start over from scratch somewhere else. If you've built an email list, you can continue to market to those people through email while you get set up on a new platform.

And then once you're all set up on a new platform, you can simply email your list telling them about it and inviting them to start following you there and you've got an instant audience right from the beginning. Building and serving an email list is the best way to create repeat customers and even raving fans in your affiliate marketing business. 101 Tips To Boost Brain Power Limited PLR

YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program

The YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program lets you easily tag products from a variety of brands and retailers giving viewers a seamless shopping experience and letting you earn commission when they purchase products from your content. In this video, we'll walk through how the program works, eligibility requirements how to tag products, and how to track your earnings progress. Let's dive in. When you tag products in your videos, Shorts, or live streams a Shopping button will show on your content. Viewers can browse the products that you've featured without leaving the watch page.

When viewers click on a product, they'll be redirected to the merchant's site. If a purchase is made from your link, you'll earn commission on the viewer's entire purchase. To be eligible for the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program your channel must meet the subscriber threshold and be approved for monetization. You also can't have a channel that's made for kids or a Music or Official Artist Channel. And you can't have Community Guidelines strikes in certain sensitive policy areas.

Note that affiliate product tags also won't show on videos that contain claimed content.

Let's walk through how to tag your products in your videos and Shorts. You can tag products during the upload flow by going to "Tag products." From here, you can click the dropdown to see stores available from different sellers. Or you can search for the brand or product that you want to tag.

Next to each product, you'll see the total product price and the commission rate that you would receive for that product which is always a percentage of the total price. This commission rate listed is 100 percent of what you will earn. Commission rates will vary by product and merchant.

Once you find the products you want, you can tag them. You can tag up to 30 products.

To remove a product, click the Trash icon next to the product. Note that if you're uploading a video and you included links while drafting your description you may see them suggested for tagging. You can also tag products in existing videos and Shorts. To do this, go to the Content tab in Studio, then select the piece of content you want. From the Details page, go to Products.

You can also tag products in your live streams and feature a tagged product by pinning it to the stream. Viewers can see tagged products by tapping the Shop icon and can shop without leaving your stream. You can tag products from your phone during the setup for a mobile live stream. To tag products for your live stream from a desktop go to Live Control Room. In the left menu, select "Stream" or "Manage." Below the live stream preview, click the Shopping tab. Then, click the plus icon to search and select products. You can tag up to 30 products.

To remove a product, click Trash next to the product. You can also pin one item during your live stream to feature it prominently.

For a mobile live stream, you can tap the Shopping button, then pin the product you want to feature. For a desktop stream, from Live Control Room click the Shopping tab, select one item to promote click or drag it to the Preview panel, then click "Pin product." Your pinned product will be prominently featured during your stream. Viewers can click on the Shopping button to see more details and options to purchase the product. Now, let's talk about a few things to keep in mind when it comes to commissions.

You'll earn commission on the entire basket size. So, if a viewer clicks on your product tag and ends up buying other items, you'll receive commissions for everything they purchased during that transaction. You'll receive payment through your AdSense account typically 60 to 120 days after purchase to account for returns and timing of AdSense payment.

If a viewer returns an item they purchased, the commissions you earn will be reversed. Some brands offer different conversion windows.

For example, you can earn commissions for up to 30 days after a viewer clicks on your tagged product as long as that viewer didn't click on someone else's affiliate link or product tag. Note you'll only be paid commissions from the YouTube Affiliate Program if viewers click from affiliate products tagged in your content. Next, here are some things to keep in mind and best practices when tagging products. Only tag products if they're easily identifiable and featured prominently or if they're meaningfully related to your content. And only tag if the products are used as intended or you're using the product in a safe way that aligns with the manufacturer's intent.

When making new videos, remember to direct your viewers to view your tagged products. And consider tagging products in both new and existing videos especially your most popular ones. Also note that you may still be able to go through the flow of tagging products even if they won't show to viewers in cases where your content is made for kids contains claimed content or other restrictions.

So, be sure to familiarize yourself with these restrictions ahead of time. Finally, let's walk through how to track your earnings.

You can find earnings data by going to YouTube Studio Analytics then Revenue, then the Affiliate chip. Here you'll see channel-level data, including estimated revenue, product clicks number of orders, and total sales. You also see top-earning products and top-earning content. You can also find info by going to the Studio Earned page then the Shopping tab. The YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program is a great way to earn more money by recommending the products you love and helps create a seamless shopping experience for your viewers.

Pepper Rewards Review: 5% Back on Gift Cards - HYPE WORTHY?

Are you looking for an easy way to save money when buying stuff on Amazon, dining out,  or even buying groceries? Well in this video, we’re going to be looking at the  app Pepper Rewards, which offers instant rebates on digital gift card purchases Hey everyone this is Kyle from Fioney - your financial resource  for a changing world. For cashback app reviews, travel tips, and more,  be sure to subscribe and thanks for hitting that like button. A few months ago, the app Pepper Reward celebrated its official launch and instantly gained some buzz. And, spoiler alert, after checking it out for myself, I can see why.

So, what does Pepper offer and what makes it so awesome? Let’s take a look at what you to know about the app. The first things to know about Pepper are how to find the app and how to sign up If you search the name Pepper in the app store, you’ll probably get a bunch of results that aren’t the app in question. Instead, I’d recommend searching Pepper Rewards in the App Store or Google Play Store to make it a bit easier.

After you download the app, you can start the sign-up process by providing an email address  and your name.

This is also where you’ll enter a referral code if you have one — but, more on that later. Of course, you’ll also create a password for your account. After that, you’ll also enter your zip code and your phone number, which you’ll verify via an SMS code. Once you’ve created an account, the next step is to add a form of payment you’ll use for your purchase. Pepper does accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

On that note, now’s a good time to mention that gift card purchases from the app will show as Pepper and will not code to the gift card’s brand category. One other thing to mention is that Pepper is actually a rebrand  of a previous app called Moochoo that had a very similar premise,  but the updated Pepper app does include some improvements that make it even easier to use.

Next, Pepper features gift cards from a lengthy list of brands - all offering 5% back In the app, you’ll find gift card offered from such brands as Amazon, Lowe’s, Walmart,  Target, Chipotle, and many many more. Since the list of brands is so long,  you may want to try using the category filters  that Pepper provides or do a search for the gift card option you’re looking for.

Once you find a gift card you want to buy, just tap the logo and then enter the amount you want.

Keep in mind that the minimum purchase amount may vary - with Amazon’s being just $1 while Delta’s is $50. It also seems that most purchases are limited to $500. Other than those restrictions, you can enter any amount you want. Then, you can complete the purchase by hitting buy gift card.

Once your transaction is complete, Pepper will display your gift card info,  including the card number, a PIN if applicable, and a scannable barcode.

The lattermost option  is nice if you plan on using your gift card in store. If you end up navigating away from this  screen before you're ready - never fear- as you can access your previously purchased gift cards  by tapping the profile icon on the right, going to transaction history, and selecting which card you  want to see. Even better, from this section, you can quickly check the balance of certain cards. When you purchase gift cards on Pepper, you’ll earn Points that can then be redeemed for more gift cards As I mentioned, when you purchase gift cards on Pepper, you’ll earn 5% back. However, this amount will come in the form of Pepper Points.

For every $5 you spend in gift cards, you’ll earn 1 Point. So, a $100 gift card purchase would net you 20 points. Then, these points can be redeemed at a value of a quarter each, meaning that 20 points equals $5.

When you’re ready to redeem your Points, just select which brand you want to buy a gift card  from. Then, tap the + button and select how many points you want to apply toward  your purchase.

At this time, you can only do this in $5 or 20 point increments. Also,  once points are applied, it doesn’t seem as though there’s a way to remove them. From there,  you can either purchase a gift card using only your redeemed points or can buy a larger card,  with the Points discounting your total. Also, if you do opt for the latter, you’ll still earn points on the non-redemption  part of your purchase. So, if you apply 20 points toward the purchase of a $50 gift card,  you’d earn 9 points on the $45 difference.

In addition to the regular 5% back, Pepper also runs occasional bonuses or discounts Since I first joined Pepper, I’ve seen an increasing number of special offers in a couple  of different forms. For one, the app offered bonus Points when you spent $125 or more on cards from select brands.

Meanwhile, they’ve also run instant discount deals for certain brands, including this Uber and Uber Eats promotion where you could save 10% off the purchase of a gift card or these deals where you’d get $7 off a $25 card. Plus, you still earn the regular 5% on top of these offers. Although it’s hard to predict exactly when more offers will arise and what they’ll be for,  if these early deals are anything to go by, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye out.

Finally, let’s talk about Pepper’s current referral bonus As a Pepper user, you can earn rewards by referring friends — and they may be able  to earn a bonus as well.

First, to refer someone, head to your profile page and  look for your six digit code. Then, have your friend or loved one us that number at sign-up. Currently, at the time that I’m shooting this video in March 2024,  Pepper customers who refer friends can earn a $20 bonus when the referred user makes at  least $100 in purchases in the app within 15 day of joining. As for the person being referred,  they’ll currently earn double points for their first 15 days,  meaning 10% back on all purchases.

That said, these offers are subject to change. OF course, if you want to potentially score a bonus for yourself and support Fioney at the same  time, feel free to use our Pepper referral code by entering 587870 when you sign up for the app. Overall, I’ve been really impressed with Pepper, including the list of brands and  how easy it is to use. Most of all, I love the instant gratification when it comes to rewards. Honestly, in my opinion, Pepper lives up to the hype it gained upon launch.

With the  ability to earn 5% back on gift card purchases and immediately redeem those points for gift cards,  I’ve really enjoyed using the app so far. In particular, I’ve taken to purchasing  Sam’s Club gift cards for my total shopping trip amount and then pasting the gift card  number into the store’s Scan and Go feature for an easy check out experience.

Similarly,  I recently bought a lawnmower at Lowe’s and was able to buy a gift card just  before checking out and have them scan my phone to redeem it. In both cases,  I was then able to take the Points I received and turn them into gift cards for Amazon. My only fear is that, as someone who’s seen his fair share of personal finance apps get  nerfed over time, I wonder if Pepper can sustain the current level of deals.

But,  in the short term, it seems the company only has plans to expand, with their website noting  an upcoming desktop browser extension and even an expense tracking feature. In any case, I’m all for this current version of Pepper and  will continue to be a regular user of the app for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully this gives you a better idea about what Pepper Rewards is all about but for more on the app, I’ll have a link to my full written review in the description box down below. Also, if you have a gift card cashback app you prefer, I’d love to know what it is - so go ahead and share it in the comments. So, thanks again for watching and I’ll see you next time here on Finney.

How to Stop Overspending - 5 Tips for Compulsive Buying Disorder

So, we all have those moments when we’re feeling down. Well guess what can make you feel better almost immediately? Spending money. You got it! It turns out that for the most part, we all like shopping – even when we’re buying things we don’t really need.

When we’re feeling depressed going to the mall on a spending spree can give you a feeling of relief. It feels good – so much better than having to deal with all your problems. It’s kind of like a drug. But what can start out as an innocent habit of some “retail therapy” can lead to a shopping obsessing and even a full blown addiction. This addiction can give you major money problems – financial stress from running up your credit cards and even relationship problems because we might try to hide our spending from others.

At it’s worse we might even be tempted to steal money from our retirement accounts or even from family members to feed a shopping obsession. So how do you handle the urge to go shopping? In this video, I give 5 tips for how to stop spending money. Coming up! Hey, I’m Dr. Brad Klontz! On this channel, we help you transform your relationship with money, master the psychology of wealth, and live a life of abundance! So, if you’re new here, please subscribe and click the bell so you don’t miss anything!

So, Tip Number 1: Ask Yourself, why are you shopping? Sure, it does feel good, but why are you doing it?

Are you trying to fill an emotional need by shopping? Are you feeling lonely? Sad?

 Depressed? Angry?

For many of us, that’s exactly happening. We’re trying to fill a void in our life. So why are you shopping? Tip Number 2: Embrace Your Emotional Needs. So, we’ve established that you are spending to fill an emotional need.

So, I want you to embrace your emotional needs. What are some better ways to fill that sense of emptiness inside, or to help you feel less alone or less stressed? How about talking to a friend, or journaling about your feelings, or even cuddling with someone you love.

How about going for a jog, or just having a good cry? Work on finding other ways – better ways - to help you satisfy your emotional needs.

Tip Number 3: Leave Your Credit cards at home. So when you DO go out shopping, take cash with you and leave your cards at home. Research shows we spend about 30% less when we use cash. It hurts slapping down those 20-dollar bills on stuff we don’t need. Tip Number 4: Hit the Mental Pause Button.

By this I mean try to put some time between your impulse to buy and pulling the trigger.

Hitting the mental pause button can really help a lot. Jot these questions down on “Notes” on your phone and read them before you hit the check-out counter: DO I really need this? Do I have room for this? What if I wait to buy this?

How will I feel about this tomorrow? Take some time to answer these questions. It will really help you slow down and will stop your spending. Then if you decide you need it.
Buy it tomorrow.

Not today. This is a huge power tip. When your emotions fade, chances are you won’t buy it after all. Buy it tomorrow is a great psychological hack. Try it out for yourself.

Tip Number 5: Are you stuck? Then ask for help. If these tips aren’t enough to help shift your spending behaviors, and you feel stuck, then please ask for help. Sometimes shopping can become an addiction – what we call a compulsive buying disorder. If left unchecked, this can have devastating consequences.

But like other addictions, the great news is that it can be treated. So if you have difficulty controlling your spending and it’s causing you problems in your life, seek the help of a therapist or a support group such as Debtors Anonymous. I have links to some resources in the description below. Question for you: If you’re vulnerable to overspending, what’s one thing you can do differently based on these 5 tips. Write it down and put it into action this week.

Predators Targeting Minors With Dating Apps & Combating Hotels Profiting From Human Trafficking

Congress has announced an investigation into the safety of dating apps for reportedly allowing registered sex offenders and minors to use free digital dating services. The investigation comes in response to media reports about sexual predators using dating apps to lure and attack minors. RTs Brigida Santos joins me now with another one of her stories. She's always at the edge of a story like this, so give me the edge on this one, Brigida. The, you know, I saw, we saw stories like this about six months ago and then they disappeared.

Now this story is back in, in play because people, people are now saying, let's investigate. What's your take on this story? Yeah. Yeah, and at least there is an investigation right now. The chairman of the subcommittee on economic and consumer policy has launched an investigation into the use of free online dating services by minors and the presence of sexual predators on those same dating sites.

The inquiry comes in response to those reports that you were talking about, that many popular dating apps are allowing registered sex offenders to use them while the paid versions of those same apps screen out those registered sex offenders. The committee has asked several dating services to produce documents about their policies and procedures for determining and verifying the age of their users, whether registered sex offenders or people convicted of violent crimes can use their platforms, how they determine whether someone is a minor or a sex offender, and to submit all consumer complaints related to minors, statutory rape, sexual assault, or rape. Some dating services that have been asked to deliver those documents include the Meet Group, Grinder and Bumble as well as the Match Group, which owns most major online dating services, including Tinder, OkCupid, Hinge, and Plenty of Fish.

You know, Brigida, I remember doing this story, maybe God, it seems like a year ago, and what we were hearing is, well, you know, you're giving us anecdotal information. These are just hypothetical stories.

These aren't real life stories. You're, you're, you're embellishing what might happen. The stories that Congress is hearing right now, these are real cases. I mean, and these are really, really bad cases aren't they? Talk about that.

Yeah, they're not hypothetical anymore. There are many disturbing stories. You know, teenagers are accessing free dating apps by simply lying about their ages. Sites like Tinder claim that they block underage users but they really don't. And to give you an example of a real life case, a Missouri man recently pled guilty to third degree child molestation after he was charged with sodomy, statutory rape and kidnapping an 11 year old girl on a dating app.

Because these sites are often international, these apps, similar incidents are also being reported all around the world. For example, the UK has discovered dozens of instances of pedophiles using dating apps to abuse and prey on children.

Some of them as young as eight years old. This brings me to the next big issue; these dating services don't conduct background checks on users. While the companies absolutely hold some responsibility, parents need to be aware that giving their kid a smartphone will give them access to these apps, and they need to take measures to make sure that their kids know about the dangers of them and that their kids don't get access to them.

Several companies have also been accused of selling and sharing users' personal data. So they're looking into that as well. Brigida, my next guest up after you actually is going to talk about the relationship between these dating apps and child trafficking, human trafficking and they're, it's inescapable. These apps are also, being used as the go between for what they call the room, the Romeo take.

That's where, you know, you start off, somebody believes that they're falling in love with somebody, meet me someplace, and then these things are used for human trafficking in a big way.

So, the next sto
ry we're going to do is actually going to talk about it, but the investigation is going to be looking into how these companies collect and share user's personal data. Which is incredible that they're sharing it wherever they want and they're taking advantage of it any way they want. What can you tell me about that? Well, the committee on oversight and reform says that American consumers may not receive adequate notification of the commercial use of their sensitive personal information from these dating apps, including sexual orientation, gender identity, drug and alcohol use, employment, political views and so on.

It is asked that the company submit all documentation on their data collection practices and any information about the third parties that they're sharing that personal data with and that's all well and good, but I'd like to see Congress also do the same for other internet companies that are also collecting data.

Last, last question, Brigida. Is there any question in your mind that these apps know exactly what they're doing? That they understand exactly how this is being abused both as to this and to human trafficking. What's your take? Yeah.

There is no question to it. They absolutely know, especially because of all the news stories that have come out revealing it. So, if they are saying that they didn't know before, they certainly know now and it doesn't seem like they're taking any measures at this point to really crack down and try to stop this abuse that's going on.

Brigida Santos, keep busting them up on this, this is an important story. Thank you for joining me.

Okay. Anytime, Mike. A panel of federal judges ruled against an effort to consolidate and centralize hotel sex trafficking lawsuits. The petition aimed to hold these hotels accountable for profiting off the backs of women and children by hosting sex trafficking and prostitution on their property. I'm joined now by attorney Steve Babin, who specializes in human trafficking law.

Steve, I think this was a surprise to everybody. I don't think it's, I don't think this court's over with this. I think they're going to look at it again, hopefully. But this first decision, it, it does cause some problems for, for trying to solve this trafficking problem, doesn't it? I think it causes some problems, but we have a path forward.

I think that what happened was the panel failed to recognize the breadth and scope of the issue was one problem and also that there is a, what the common question of fact was with respect to all of these cases.

Yeah. Well, a lot of times a panel of judges is, they're, they're posed a question that they don't, they're not in the middle of the fight. So I think your next step, this is not over, this is just the beginning, isn't it? What is your next step?

What do you want to do next to keep this trafficking case moving? Because it is heavily, heavily a hotel issue.

It's a trucking company issue. It's all the, it's an airlines issue. Interesting to me, the airlines are doing something about it.

The airlines, if you walk through Atlanta airport, you hear time and time again, the idea of about, if you suspect trafficking is taking place, call 911 right this minute, right? Yeah. And it's, it's really a hotel industry too, 92% of trafficking occurs in hotels. So the, the path forward is we're gonna, we're gonna continue to file lawsuits. We're going to file class action lawsuits against the hotel industry and we're going to bring the industry to the table, whatever, whatever way we have to.

We will approach the panel again and see consolidation, but we'll have a, you know, a, a multi-level attack against the hotel industry. Well, the advantage, the advantage of consolidation is you have one judge that's looking at all the facts for the entire nation.
It's called an MDL. That's how, as a matter of fact, how we're trying to solve the opioid crisis. That's how we, we solve hundreds of major complex cases where you have one talented judge making decisions about the evidence, about what's admissible, about what the companies did.

And that's what you were asking for here, right? You're asking to say, can you please put this in front of one judge? And that was up in Ohio correct? That was up in Ohio where I am and yeah, that's exactly right. You can have one judge see the entire problem and hear what the problem is, is it's the same across the board.

It's the deliberate repeated refusal to implement policies and procedures that would catch and, and prohibit sex trafficking from occurring on the premises. And the brands say, well, you know, we couldn't recognize or control sex trafficking and I think that argument is untenable. The, the reality is if, if somebody walked in, a man walked in who's in his, whatever age the guy is, with six girls in their 20s and paid with cash in hotel rooms for week long stays, you gotta know something's going on. Okay. You've asked us to be involved in the trial of these cases.

We will be trying these cases. I think that what's going to happen here, and this is unfortunate, but the companies who know they've done wrong are going to be hiding behind the companies who kind of tried to do this right. Some companies, hotel companies, airline companies, trucking companies, they've come up with standards, and they say these are the standards we're going to follow because we know in the hotel industry, 97% not, tell me if I'm wrong about it.

It's nine, 97% of all human trafficking, primarily of children, takes place in hotel rooms. In Atlanta for example, they bring kids into Atlanta central location.

People fly in from all over the world to actually be involved with sex trafficking. They all meet there in Atlanta. They're there for two days and then they leave. The airlines industry knows that the hotel industry knows that and you're asking the hotel industry to step up and do their job, right? That's right.

To step up and do their job and not only write down policies, but to implement those policies as well across the board.

What will a class action allow you to do? To me, if I think of your class action that you're filing, it allows, it allows lawyers to do discovery, to take depositions, to go after documents that show that the hotel industry clearly knew what was going on. Even though this panel decided now's not the time, when we get those documents and we can show them more, don't you, don't you kind of feel like everything falls into place? Everything should fall into place.
And what the class action does is exactly what you said. It lets us ask questions and determine, you know, how much did you know, and did you know? And what we will find is they absolutely did know.

Steve Babin, I promise you I'll go after him with you. Okay.

All right. Thanks for doing this.
